This is an EDM 510 course practice assignment.
This upcoming school year we are hoping to make our Science Night both fun and interesting for students and parents alike. So, for this excercise, please provide any helpful advice, including ideas, experiments, or interesting websites that you feel would help make Science Night more appealing to elementary school students.
For example .....
A cool experiment that could be used with students as young as kindergarten is adding tonic water to jello to create an iridescent effect under black light.

Magnetized Paper Clips Chain
We do this in the summer with our boys and their friends to see which group can make the longest connnected chain. You will require a few strong u-shape magnets [or square magnets - they work better] and metal paper clips. Take a magnet and add paper clips to it, touch a second magnet to the first one. Continue to add paper clips to see how long the chain can become. The second clip will be attracted to the first and so on. Your students will have such a blast, do not forget to make groups and keep scores.

Pizza box solar oven is a great idea. The kids love it and it's really simple. All you need is a pizza box, aluminum foil and ingredients for smores. Also, a hot sunny day helps. Line the pizza box with the foil. Put the ingredients for the smores together and place in box. Close lid and sit in the sun. Preferable on a table near the window. Wait for a couple of hours for the smores to melt then let the kids open the box and eat their treats.

I think you could by taking pictures of the kids making their pizza oven,then their smores, putting them in the pox and closing the lid, placing it in the sun, pictures of them impatiently waiting, and then finally opening the box and enjoying thier treats. I think that would make a cool digital story.
I remember making something called "ubleck" when I was a kid. It is both a solid and a liquid. I remember having so much with it!
Plastic Milk Activity. Add 4 teaspoons of vinegar to 1 & 1/2 Cup of Skim Milk. Microwave for about 1 min. Stir the mixture to create a curd blob and then drain the liquid. Let it cool some more and the protein will cause the curd blob to feel like rubber. The students can then mold and shape the blob into their own creation. If left out, the shape will harden.
